So, I got a phone call from my doc's this morning, from their admin. 'We need you to have a blood test before you go into hospital'

I'm sorry?

'Well, we need to rule a few things out before you're admitted.'

Er.....But.....What am I going into hospital for?

'Don't you know?'

No I bloody don't! Would you care to enlighten me?

'You've been referred to the specialist'

Yes, but nobody said I needed to actually be admitted to hospital! I was only going for a chat about my symptoms....

*endless sound of shuffled papers.*

'Ah, yes. I think perhaps...we have miscommunicated....sorry about that You have an appointment with the consultant. It's outpatient not inpatient. *embarrassed cough* Again, sorry about that.'
