Big housecats?

Well, I've got an active, healthy-ish cat sitting at 14.

I've got an old, fat, blind one which is about 20.

The dead one was probably closer to 25.

It's possible, just really unhealthy.

Maine Coon cats can be very large. I once saw one at the vet's office which was 26 pounds and in a medium sized dog carrier.

I had a 22 lb Maine Coon. Fucking imossible to get into even the medium sized carrier.

But still easier to get in the carrier than a skinny alley or, heaven help us, a part Siamese with a I'm-not-sick-you're-insane-and-trying-to-kill-me going on.

Of course all cats get bigger with muuuuuuuuuuuccch longer legs when being put in or toward a carrier. I'm not sure where they hide the extra claws.

The Maine Coon cats I've known didn't seem to realize they could scratch, the others... I've still got scars from an Angora in the 80s.

They grow to over 20 pounds but look HUGE because of their long thick fur

I once saw the vet helpers giving shots to a huge Maine Coon at the local shelter. The cat was NOT happy about the experience. They might as well have been trying to give shots to a mountain lion. I have never heard such a terrifying scream from a domestic cat.

I remember seeing a photo of one of your cats. Beautiful cat, as are most Norwegians.

Ragdoll cats can be pretty big too. Mature male 20 pounds+

Savannahs can get pretty large, especially if they're F1s.

Curly is 25 pounds and there's not an ounce of fat on him. His sister Q.C. (Quintessential Cat) is about five. Freaks, the both of them

Hybrid cats are often large but they tend to be slim. I doubt many domestic cats get that big.

Same here, though both littermates have been lost to old age now.

Shannon was about 24 pounds and muscular, lived to age 19. His sister, Frenchy, never topped 6 pounds and lived to two weeks shy of her 22nd birthday.

Servals can get to 30 lbs w/o trouble

pantherettes (not sure they still breed them) get up to 40lbs, I think...


Bengals (not the gorgeous l'il oriental - the other one...the one they banned...?) got up to about 30lbs, I think....?



Some of the domestic cats, if raised on red meat, will grow larger than their typical counterparts.

The vet here always freaks out 'cause the moggie I have is almost 10kg... she looks like a mini-tiger

Ridley is large, long and muscular. Fluffy, too. I don't know what breed he is but his siblings were smaller shorthairs. He must be a throwback to something.

I once had two cats and they were also huge. Also unknown breeds but I'm sure they had some Maine Coone in them. When I took them to the vet I didn't need carriers. I just plunked them on the chair beside me and they filled it up. Dogs walked in, did a double take and the cats calmly looked back.
