Anyone here know if the laws concerning adoption in Louisiana have been modified to allow greater access to adoptions records? (Hoping not, or I'll have to do more rewriting.)

Ruth2, I don't know how recent of a change you are asking about, but I found some information at this website. (http://www.childwelfare.gov/systemwide/laws_policies/state/index.cfm?event=stateStatutes.processSearch) It states that non-identifying information is available to the adoptive parents, the birth parents, and the adopted child after the age of 18. That's the first part of the information--I'll let you read the other particulars yourself.

If you need more information that you can't find from an internet search, please feel free to post again.

There is curr4ently a bill either in the senate or house (I'm not sure which) that would grant adoptees access to more information. It's been stalled for about two years.
