Time for a Contest?

How about 'Spring Cleaning' -- cleaning out things that have come to represent clutter in our lives. Could be junk in the attic, old relationships that that need letting go of, habits that need breaking, relationships that need mending, wallets/purses that need cleaning out, expired pantry items, (I could go on and on and on, but you get the picture)

We could up it a notch and make it a specific form requirement? Or not

Spring is good --and Don could slant it to cleaning and Fei to renewal.

Yes, for the 3rd year in a row, I will lurk beneath the lillacs in the evening chill and attempt to distill the heavenly scent into a poetic experience that others may enjoy. I don't think they will bloom for another 3 or 4 weeks though, so I hope the deadline isn't until late April or early May, buds!

While I find the suggestion a tad extreme, I understand the sentiment that inspired it. My doggerel takes whatever shape it chooses. Forcing it into something alien sends my muse off to Las Vegas, not to return until he's used up all his credits and has to come back to inspire me and therefore generate more for himself. It's a cruelly symbiotic relationship that would be sorely strained by imposing form on something so inconsequential.

So when do our poems have to be in? Do we post the here in ths thread?

Not all of us. I'd love a sonnet or terza rima contest! Though a villanelle would probably be easier for everyone. (I confess it: I'm not a fan of haiku.)

I know what sonnets and haiku are. Hey, I'm batting .500! If this were baseball, I'd be an all-star! Hall of Fame, here I come!

As to what I like to read, subject content is far more important to me than form. As to what I write, well, I do what I can and what my mind is equiped for.

I would prefer a game open to all.

I think KTC was being facetious about killing me. Well actually he's made several death threats and my phone line has been cut, luckily skpe still works, I hope the police have a skype account.

There's too many bloody forums on this site. I only popped out of the poetry one for a jar of bloody milk. Two weeks later...

good lord.. am doin' stats this semester and even my head didn't go that far.. however the machinations of a coil spring not quite pulled down to it's mathematical crux might do it ;-D
