I have no recollection of where I got this name. Sure he seems real sweet on his website, but I have no idea if he's made sales or is legit in any way.

He is not on Publisher's Marketplace or a member of the AAR.

Any word?

No experience = move on to the next name. Sweet is nice, but sweet doesn't sell books. Experience does, and he doesn't appear to have any. Law doesn't count, except maybe if he was an IP lawyer. So unless someone can find sales, I'd move on.

BTW, an agent not being a member of the AAR isn't necessarily a red flag :) Many good agents are not members.

Rather like getting that first job in management - how does one get sales if authors avoid him because he doesn't have sales?

Usually by starting with an established agency first, or by working elsewhere in publishing to establish their credentials.
