So, who's doing what instead of watching the Oscars?

Avoiding the television, as usual, especially when Hollywood fawns all over itself as if most of their product didn't suck to begin with.

It's 11:00 on Monday morning. WTF are the Oscars doing on?

Oh wait. Right. I'm on the civilized side of the globe in the cool kids' time zone.

I'm currently eating breakfast and working on line edits for one of my books before I get back to work on my new WIP.

Taping a PBS documentary on Wyoming's fave son, retired senator Alan Simpson. Since the satellite receiver can only play one station at a time, that's what on. That's okay though; I'm a huge fan of "Uncle Al."

I am watching a few episodes of Lost online. I had never seen so much as a second of this show until about a month ago and in four weeks I am into the middle of the third season.

The Oscars? I would MAYBE watch those if someone tied me up and held a gun to my head. A bunch of Hollywood elites blowing smoke up each others' asses while shrieking, "We're great! We're great!" No thank you.

Editing. What else?

Oh, but now that I'm done with my editing (a novella, a novel and a thesis proposal today) I'm getting ready to get going on my WIP and maybe...maybe...I'll sneak in a hot bath and a glass of wine.

Sitting here at work writing a query letter for a novel that is only a quarter of the way finished. :tongue I've been keeping up online, though, to see who the winners are.

Well, I tried to watch a Netflix movie - the DVD is scratched to shit and the streaming movie has a SEVEN second delay between voice and picture. So I put on my online radio and just peeked at the results on Twitter. Man, how did people avoid the Oscars before computers?
Actually, I'm curious to see if the movies I liked win, but the pageantry and Vegas lite and stupid jokes for hours on end...please, it's painful. Awards fever starts in January and runs all winter - it's like every Sunday is a different awards ceremony. It's basically a company party, and if I was a working writer in H'wood I would not mind being there, partying for three or four days straight. But I don't have a burning desire to watch the cognoscenti, the elite, the royalty, parade around on my TV.
Whew, I got emotional about that. I'd better get back to work writing.

Slept. Had a nightmare. Crept round house with torch, jumping each time toddler snored. Was reminded why i don't write horror.
