View Full Version : I got a request for a full....

I know!

It doesn't mean anything at all, but when I got home about an hour ago, I had a request for a full in my mailbox. I sent my three chapters + query just two weeks ago to this agent.

I'm so excited I want to crawl under the bed and chew on the carpet fringe. Again, I know, it means nothing. Still...

I'm not used to this yet. I should be totally knackered since I've just worked 12 hours. But this woke me up.

*chewchewchew*

(Now my cat is cowering under the bed, totally baffled by my jig around the desk)

Very big congrats, a full is another step to those things that "mean something".

It's a positive sign, but I'm of the opinion that you're only setting yourself up for a disappointment if you think anything before they slide the contract across the desk for you to sign. :D

Still...

Exactly! Agents ask for fulls just to get your hopes up and then knock you down. If I were you I'd refuse the request. Fire off an email, tell them no way are you playing their sadistic games. If they call you and plead with you, hang up. Only when they come to your home like they did with Margaret Mitchell, only when they do that, can you be sure they're serious.

Congrats! :hooray: (*fingers crossed for you*)
And I know how you feel...you expect the best only to get crushed. My new tactic is to expect nothing in hopes that it'll finally happen... :)

Heh, I DID actually think that, but since many people get requests for fulls I wasn't sure it really can be counted as an accomplishment. When they come back and want it, I'll scream from the roof-top in Goals & Accomplishments. For now, I'll be chewing on the carpet under my bed waiting for the answer. :)

Congrats, Maxinquaye! A quick response too. Best wishes for a positive response.

I heard chewing on carpet fringe in good for your teeth. Dental flossing, ya know.
