The fox (I'm guessing that's supposed to be a fox) was babysitting and killed the bunny's babies. It's a joke using the popular expression, "It was murder to [insert menial task that does not involve murder]," but in this case, it actually was murder.

There are probably a wide variety of creatures that eat rabbits. They're just ripe for the picking, I guess. Having read Watership Down, I can't help feeling they deserve it in some way...

Sorry, I have a thing about anthropomorphic bunnies. Really, anthropomorphic anything of animal kind... except Bugs Bunny and Brer Rabbit. They're cool, of course.

ETA: Animal Farm... because I love Orwell..

But Wilbur the pig from Charlotte's Web... I was forced to read that book in school AND watch the cartoon and never have I enjoyed bacon so much at any other time period in my life...

Okay...so...I've got issues...but we knew that :)
