If you take Eurostar through the Chunnel, will your cell phone work? I guess the more precise question, as far as my WIP goes, is:

Would it be realistic for cell phone coverage, and therefore a conversation, to disappear a minute after entering the tunnel?

You betcha, unless there's repeaters installed every few hundred yards (meters?).

In fact, I'd say it wouldn't take a minute. More like 5 to 10 seconds.

I haven't been through the Chunnel, but I do go to NYC a few times a year. Fly into LGA, take the Mid-Town in to the Times Sq area. My signal disappears in the Mid-Town Tunnel every time.

I went through it the last time about a year ago and you lose all signal as soon as you enter the tunnel. When you come out the other side, your phone beeps at you welcoming you to the country's phone network that you'll be using while there.
