Anyone heard much about this? I read a bit last night, and it seemed to suggest there won't be a 'Grand Campaign', just three campaigns that follow a more linear route through Napolean's career.
WTF?
That's not a TW game! Someone tell me this isn't true.

In other news, my new computer should be arriving today. So much for me ever getting anything productive done ever again. :tongue

I love the TW games, and I love the Napoloenic era, so this game would be perfect to test out my new machine - but if there's no Grand Campaign, I'll go for Empire instead.

If there is no grand campagin, there is no TW game!

Then its just Napolean, and where are we good with that? not at all!

You should buy Empire. AND! I'm pretty sure there's a campaign. The reviews talk about campaigns. In fact, that's almost all they talk about.

We're talking about the Grand Campaign, which means a freeform style of conquer the world as you see fit.

Not just a regular Campaign where you have mission after mission after mission.

Since the bug fest game the released "Empire: Total War" I can't take them serious anymore. I do not buy the Total War series till they start making quality. I am fed up with game makers releasing half finished games and expect one to pay good cash for them.

You do not write a book and sell it with some pages left out, do you?

I bought the Imperial Edition with the extra packs of troops and such, and to be honest I'm enjoying it. I didn't use my edition yet, I'm keeping it, I played at a friend, but the AI is much better than ETW and you get to have more battles in the game as well, on the campaign map.

Sucks you don't have a big campaign apart from the Coalition one.

I'm afraid that being constrained into Napoleon's life is kinda edgy for me. Think I'll wait till the price drops.

It's cheaper than when ETW was released too. I initially bought Napoleon - Imperial Edition for 39 pounds but eventually when it was time to ship they charged me 26 for some reason. That was good :D

But even so, it's cheaper than ETW, and better in some cases, apart from variety.

I played NTW time and time again, and I have to say, it's way better than ETW.

Recommending it.

Mayhaps, but without a grand campaign, it's not a TW game.

I've played the patched Empire TW and I just got Napoleon TW. There is a grand campaign. You can play France (as Napoleon 1805- to the end of time) or Great Britain or Austria or Prussia or Russia. Since the turns cover two week periods that gives you 200 turns and plenty of time to develop steam propulsion, balloon reconnaissance and Ironclad warships.

MUCH MUCH better than ETW. I love this game. Third best in my opinion after MTW and STW.

I've left the Total war series for the moment. These days I'm playing multiplayer Operation Arrowhead. You can be poorly-armed tribesman
and shoot at helicopters from your multistory mud town. It's kind of
like the US Army attacks a Chaco Canyon civilization full of turbaned
savages. But hey, some of those savages have antitank missiles with
infrared sights. I know the Czechs who made this game were not
thinking of New Mexico when they made the game, but their version of
central Asia looks a lot like the Jicarilla Apache reservation to me.
