At least there'll be plenty of rodent meat to fuel you through the dark days ahead.

Is Phil always right?

We don't have groundhogs over here. He looks so sweet I wish we did!

I know right where it lives...

We'll need some one with a hunting rifle,
or some such.

I'll bake it some strychnine cookies...extra chocolate chips.

General Beauregard Lee didn't see his shadow. Neither did any other of the weather groundhogs but Phil.

lost among the words
One of my coworkers used to work at said library and attests to the fact that Phil is really a male. She saw proof of it one spring while Phil was enjoying the mating season.

Fortunately, the library was closed at that time and no little children were traumatized by the sight.

But, yeah, such a hard life for a ground hog. Dragged out of the warm comfort of his home and stuck into the frozen ground so some idiot can haul him out by the scruff of his neck. The price one pays for fame and all.

I'm also about an hour from there, FWIW.

My heart for those who's struggling with winter weather. Southern Finland is strugging too. Espcially capital city Helsinki. :D

on a side note, I live somewhere in middle of Finland. It doesn't bother me. :D

Somewhere right now in Hollywood:

“You see this? that rodent Phil was a girl once, gilded cage and all.”
“Yeah, mating season, haha!”
“Hey... Hey! What if ‘Queen for a day’ was like a princess?”
“Oooo yeah! Fantasy Lovelorn vixen trapped, I love it!”
“Top Hats gents, are like evil troll - keepers of talisman?”
“Yes! Yes! Do go on!”
“Maybe a corseted fantasy film, ala Helena Bonham Carter?”
“Who?”
“Never mind, seriously though, young Princess in peril”
“Yeah, but who?
”Angeline Jolie?”
“No, no! Need young and innocent.”
“You’re right that’s a stretch...”

And you wondered where they get these insane ideas. =)

I don't understand. Isn't there always slightly more than 6 weeks of winter left as of Feb 2?

But, but, that's not a groundhog, that's a woodchuck! :D ('least that's what I grew up calling them...)

We don't have any here. Just prairie dogs, and no one ever asks their opinion on the weather--oddly enough.

I blame our lack of visible seasons on the dearth of woodchucks. Surely, if there were some around to consult about their shadows, it would snow here.
