I don't like any store-bought brands, not even Wegmans or Famous Amos. The crisp ones are an affront and an abomination, and the soft ones all taste like chemical preservatives.

However, even the mediocre home-made ones are wonderful.

Maryn, who wants cookies now--thanks a lot!

I prefer peanut butter cookies or sugar cookies.

Oh, if we're including homemade, my girlfriend makes the best chocolate chip cookies.

Some time ago I noticed that I'd select the chocolate chip cookies with the fewest chips and I'd eat them so the last couple of bites didn't have any chips at all. Then, I made up a double batch but left out the chocolate chips--just made the dough. Now, my favorite from-scratch cookies are chocolate chip-less chocolate chip cookies. With all of that brown sugar, they are delicious. And I can always eat the chocolate chips on the side (Ghirardelli Mint Chips are best for handfulleating).

I don't know what Fig Newtons means (I'm off to Google in a second :D) but I LOVE Tesco's Finest Double Chocolate-Chip Cookies. Amaaaaazing.

Tesco is a British monolithic supermarket. :)

ETA: Google to the rescue - I'll stick with the cookies, thanks. ;)

I'm guessing they're what we call fig rolls. If so I love 'em. They're my favourites.

I'm sorry, Maryn, but they started it with the Oreos and Fig Newtons.

I much prefer chocolate chip cookies to either of those kinds of cookies. And I'm getting pretty hungry right now, too!

A dark, evil place.

I make 'em with 1/4 to 1/2 the number of chocolate chips the recipe calls for. And, yes, I've made them without. They're still awesomely good cookies.
