Make no mistake: Borderlands is a game that glorifies violence, and it does sexualize the women who appear in the game. However, I couldn't help but notice women hold most of the positions of authority on Pandora. Let's break it down.

Tannis - leader of scientific expedition
Steele - leader of Crimson Lance
Pierce - mayor of New Haven
Angel - "guide" for PC (presents feminine personality regardless of the PC's sex)

Some of all of these characters may answer to men higher up in their respective hierarchies, but this is never shown. Not once do you kill a woman in the game, not even at the end. Meanwhile, most of the men who hold positions of authority in Pandora, often gangleaders, end up dead at the player's hands.

Granted, this is a clumsy attempt compared to the openly feminist Portal, but I liked seeing it anyway.
