I plan to look in Writer's Market and realize there are paying markets listed below, but am also curious as to what your fave paying markets are and to what might take a very short piece.

I've written a piece that I believe is chick lit or women's fiction and is currently 867 words. I guess it could be considered flash fiction or maybe still just a short story.

Does anyone have a favorite paying market?

Thanks!
Gina

There are some British mags that will take stories of 1000 words, bit longer that your piece - they are Woman's Weekly, Bella, Best and Take a Break. Don't have contact details handy at the mo, if you dig about on the net you should be able to find them.

Markets

Gina, have you looked in the markets list sticky at the top of the 'page'? There are flash fiction lists there.

Have you looked in the thread about four below yours asking about markets?
There are flash fiction markets there.

There was a long and detailed thread about British magazines with all the details you will need on this board a while ago. Use the search function and you'll find it.

Flash fiction is usually under 500 words. Can you add a little plot and make your story a 1000 word one for the British magazines (add a UK connection to your story) or can you cut and pare to 500 words?

That's the right length for 'That's Life' in Australia. They pay $400 (AD).
