Do bobbies wear name tags?

My brother is a PC in the UK. I’ll shoot him an email, bearing in mind the time difference I’ll let you know.

From memory, he has his number on his shoulder epaulet of his uniform. And his number is on other things - reflective jacket, hat, even his polo shirt. I really can’t remember if his actual name is anywhere. I’ll be back.

Numbers only, no name badges AFAIK.

It does depend on the force (each county does have different rules) but my brother say's, no name badge's - just warrant number. His is in the format of PCXXXX - where X denotes a number.

Police don't have name tags in the UK. The numbers on their shoulders do identify them but AFAIK they're different schemes for different forces. UK Police are broken up into independent but co-operating regions AKA forces.

You wouldn't call them bobbies anymore, either. At least, not round my way.
