Other than death, what are your worst fears? Mine are definitely clowns and snakes. I've always had an extreme phobia of them.

Now it's your turn :)

I do not like heights. Old time pictures of guys building sky scrapers give me the heebie-jeebies.

I haven't really had problems with heights (jumped off a 9,000 foot mountain last summer:)), though one of my friends is severely terrified of them. But window washers for skyscrapers scare me so bad.

I am right there with you. I freaking HATE clowns! Snakes don't bother me though.

It's funny how this topic comes up from time to time. It happened most recently here (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87919).

That doesn't mean we shouldn't share our fears in a new discussion, only that it seems strange how it's become a prevailing theme in this room.

Failing and selling out.. Also, snakes and rats, they belong in my Room 101.

The dark. I am deathly afraid of the dark. Put me in a pitch-black room alone and I'll curl up in a fetal position and rock. LOL!

Clowns/people in heavy makeup/masks

Snakes in unexpected places

Spiders, and sleeping with any limbs sticking out from under the covers - which isn't a fear in itself, but the thought of something reaching up from under my bed to grab the exposed limbs...

I assure you that it was a mere coincidence that time when I washed the windows while you were in your underwear (the one with teddy bears, not the lacey one)

Oh and I hate those weird mime people-- the ones that pretend they're in a box when they're not? And they have all that creepy make up on? They scare me too.

Remember Bloom County. Opus ran amok beating mimes with an olive loaf

I was driving along with a friend once and this little girl who was standing on the pavement turned round - she had a clown mask on and looked like the wee girl at the end of (I think) Halloween IV. My friend and I started screaming and he nearly crashed. And wasps. I really hate wasps. But other insects don't bother me, and neither do spiders.

I'm a big baby. Too many to list, but most are water related. I could start with deep water, heights, water towers, dams, long bridges...

Yeah, I'm pathetic. ;)

Even Paul McCartney (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_McCartney_%26_Wings)?

I'm quite claustrophobic. Less afraid of being underground - although that does get me a bit jittery - than of any restriction of my limbs. The coffin scene in Kill Bill is about my worst nightmare. *shudder*

The Underground is the subway under London... so if you came from there you'd be a rat or a mutant turtle. :P

...but seriously, it TERRIFIES me. I stand there clutching the handrail and wince every time the lights flicker. (It must be hilarious to watch...)

Ah and submarines. I refuse to go on one. And mice and rats and other rodents creep me out so bad. Just their little nasty tails alone makes me want to scream.

I hate the London Underground. I had to use it twice last year on my way to Brighton and back and I had a panic attack both times. But I'm absolutely fine with the Glasgow one - probably because it just goes round in a circle and the chances of going in the wrong direction and missing your train home and being stranded in London with no money are minimal. :D

See, I am claustrophobic, but the Underground doesn't bother me that much until it's full of people, and I get hemmed in and can't move. Never got as bad as a full on panic attack, but I'm usually just barely controlling myself - reciting the litany against fear to calm myself. :tongue
