Did you get an agent and/or book deal through non-conventional means?

I'm writing a story for Writer's Digest on ways to sell your book to publishers (or to get yourself an agent) outside of the conventional book proposal structure. For example, one author does actual graphic mock-ups to sell her books, and Tony Hendra sold Father Joe by using a CD of him telling
Father Joe's story on the radio.

If you've ever sold a book using a non-conventional tactic, (or know someone who has), I'd love to speak with you ASAP.
