Are you accepting reprints? It looks like you're not, but it's not specifically stated.

Like, the submission guidelines (http://www.portiris.com/submissions.html) say that I am open to almost anything. However, I would expect at least some element of speculative fiction. Sorry.

I will consider reprints, as long as the author presently maintains the rights. Please, just notify me in your cover letter that it is a reprint and where it was published before.

I will update the submission guidelines to make that clear. Thanks.

My apologies to anybody that may have tried to submit since last night. I temporarily broke the submission form, but all is right now.

For those of you that have tried to access the forum, I realize that there are some cosmetic problems. Unfortunately these stem from deeply rooted server script problem and the forum will be down for a few hours, as I reboot the settings.

I noticed that it said you're expected to release the premier issue in March 2010, what's the deadline?

There is a soft deadline of February 1st for the March issue, but I'll continue taking submissions for the June issue to follow that.

So far, 3 of the short fiction spots have been filled for the first issue as well as cover art. We are still looking for at least one scifi story to round out the first issue, but we're still taking submissions for other genres too.

Port Iris released Issue #1 a couple of days ago in web and pdf formats. I'd like to thank everybody that submitted their work. The current slush pile for the next issue is backed up some from the work needed to push out the issue, but it is dwindling at a steady pace. I foresee being back to a within-2-weeks response time soon.

My compliments to your parents, who raised you to say 'thank you.' Seriously, it's pretty rare for some of those who post their paying or non-paying markets' needs to take a second for this simple courtesy.

Maryn, manners freak today

I took a look, and submitted one of my stories a couple days ago.
Looks pretty nice. I like that they have a forum, a way for contributers to interact and form a community.
Port Iris does not look like most of those other fly-by-night online 'zines. I hope to be accepted and get in on the ground floor of this one.
