Okay, so I just finished downloading a bunch of avatars for use here, and when I tried to upload them it didn't work. It said something about "Failure to create temporary file" - is this a regular problem that has some way around it?

Thanks.

It happens from time to time - you'll sometimes have better luck storing the file somewhere like photobucket, and telling the UI to fetch if from the web, rather than uploading from your drive.

But it does rather look as if you've worked it out?

It's strange, because I've had the opposite problem--had to upload pictures to my desktop rather than from the web. When I used a URL it gave me that same message about temporary files.

Glad everything's worked out for everyone, though. :)

Ah, my current avatar is from the stock-file ones on AW.

I got that message when I tried linking to the address of the image.

When I tried uploading from my computer, it'd have the comp-address in the form, and I'd click save and then the address would disappear and the avatar wouldn't be updated. I couldn't see an actual "Upload" button anywhere.

Edit: Don't worry, uploading from computer worked this time. New avatar is nice, no?
