An animation from New Zealand Book Council. (Are you watching publishing-type people in the US who should be making things at least this cool to market your books?)

That. Is the coolest promo ever.

(Also, New Zealanders have the sexiest voices.)

Fantastic! For all writers who lead with description this is a great example of how to do it effectively. I love this. Thanks for sharing.

For those who are interested this ad was made by Colenso BBDO (http://www.advertolog.com/colenso-bbdo/)for the NZ Book Council.

To be honest, I didn't understand a word the narrator said. Maybe I was too focused on the animation.

A little After Effects or Vegas task, combined with some still frames and post-work. Looks cool, but it's not a hard task to do similar. But I admit, this one is an original and refreshing book advertisement. A real pro work.

The animation is amazing. In fact it's so good it's a little distracting, in my opinion. The form seems to be the focus, rather than the book. What do I remember? The animation rather than the voice, the premise or the characters. I also had trouble understanding the narrator, and I'm Australian, so our accents aren't too different. It's great to see a high level of creativity - it's very arty, but to me it seems the art is the focus.

What a great promo! But for what? I guess i was so caught up into the video itself, that i miss what was being said.

Then i replayed it and was so caught up into trying to understand what was being said, that i missed most of what was going on in the video (lol)

Great work from a visual perspective though. Question: Are there any good/great nonfiction book promos?

Are there any good/great nonfiction book promos?Maybe this one can be considered as good. It's following the standard book trailer method. It's an easy montage, but it's also telling everything about the novel itself.

Or here is Leviathan's trailer. This one is a professional trailer.

Thanks. I liked the Leviathan trailer better; maybe because it has some narrative with it. Good stuff.

My opinion...
The video was for the promotion of books in general featuring GOING WEST to give it some focus. It was not a trailer for that book per se. That's why the audio was a little blurred. I think it worked great.
