What's your favorite descriptive words/phrases?

I like "oaky" (a word I made up :tongue) language when it comes to description. You know, like words that sort of bark when you say them. (Ironically, "bark" is one of them :D)

Words like "gnarled" or "casks" or even "pregnant." (pregnant as in describing something that is full....such as "The situation was pregnant with irony.")

What are your favorite types of descriptive phrases/words? Stuff that gives you a very vivid visual of what is going on...

I find it's not the particular word that's used, but rather how it is used in the context of the sentence. For example, an airy house is not nearly as interesting as someone's airy skull. ;)

Festoon. You don't see it used much these days, but it evokes images of garlands and decorations, as when something is "festooned for the holidays."
