I've got an office meeting coming up tomorrow (11/9/09) and have been assigned to give 'the saying of the day.' I'm looking for something that's NOT one of those things from an inspirational poster. I'm a wise-ass by nature and am having trouble finding something that's not too flippant. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here's my favorite quote, but I don't know who said it first:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming..."Wow! What a ride!"

In a similar vein: A good friend will come at 3am with the bail money. Your best friend is in the cell with you, saying 'wasn't this a fun night?'.

It would help if we knew what thoughts you were trying to express.

Failing that, for some quick morality try
The Book of Proverbs
and
Poor Richard's Almanac.

I am not trying to express anything, I just want a spiffy quote. I've gotten great ones (see above.) Thanks, everyone~!:hi:

You may have no need for more, but I find Bertrand Russell to be very quotable:

1) A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

2) If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way.

3) Science may set limits to knowledge, but should not set limits to imagination.

4) The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
