Eeep!

The launch event for The Lacuna is here in Asheville on Monday evening and I have a ticket and a reserved advance copy of the book.

Just excited, that is all.

Never heard of her. Now if you'd said, "Barbara Walters," I'd be falling all over myself with envy. :D

That'd be cool, too. But she wrote, The Poisonwood Bible one of my favorite books of all time.

P.S. You're silly.

I haven't read it yet, but I'm thrilled for you! (Really, really wish you'd get Some Good News before the event so you could casually mention it in conversation...)

I haven't read any of her fiction, but Animal, Vegetable, Miracle was easily one of the best books I've read all year.

I've read Bean and Poison...she has a way with nailing dialogue. I hope you enjoyed your meeting.

She had really cool boots. And she was funny!

Tickets were free with the purchase of an advance (well, one day advance - The Lacuna officially releases today) copy of her new book, which she read excerpts from.

They sold 1,000 seats and when we picked up our tickets, we could funnel into one of two lines: one for pre-signed copies or the other for unsigned. I went for the unsigned and stayed after the talk for the meet and greet. And so did over three hundred of the rest of these literate hillfolk. Damn them.

So, by the time I got to meet Ms. Kingsolver, she was grey with fatigue, but still very gracious. And I got my book signed!

It was very cool. She's one of my writing idols.

Perks, that is AWESOME. I'm actually having a geeky fangirl moment just thinking about it. She's one of my heroes.

Can't wait to read The Lacuna!

I've read the first few pages and, yep, vintage Kingsolver. Just beautiful.
