Here at AW we're always talking about where we're living or which city is our home, but I'm also curious how your home city looks like. Every city has it's own beauty.

This is how my home district looks like. I love this place.

Budapest, Hungary

I'm outside Toronto at present...but grew up on the inside and go into the city all the time. It's still my city.

These trees seemed like giants when I was a kid:

I didn't notice I'd caught this sunburst 'til I got home and uploaded the photos from my mobile phone:

And across the road from my house:

You guys are also live in beautiful places. They're really beautiful.

And I found few more. This is one street above my house, the top of the Castle in a cold foggy winter day. Maybe this is the primary reason why I love fantasy. The district of mine is like a fantasy castle... sometimes with a spooky atmosphere. :D

My favorite bridge, the Chain Bridge. We, along with many citizens watched the fireworks from the top of the chains or even from the top of it... until it's not became a government rule that climbing to the top of the bridge is not authorized on Aug 20 (They figured out this "stupid" rule few years ago. Since that time, it's a restricted area.).

And the Budapest Air Race above River Danube (Every Aug 20), where the pilots are used to fly under the Chain Bridge as that's the start and the finish line. On the left, it's our beautiful Parliament, our White House. Freddy Mercury wanted to buy it in the 80s as he believed it's a private castle. Well, it's our government castle, but it's not for sale. :)

From where I live now:

Downtown at night

Part of the Haymarket district (clubs, restaurants, niche stores, etc.)

I couldn't find a good picture of the skywalk downtown (which looks pretty awesome decorated for Christmas), which is too bad. Of course, it's smack over the busiest street in the whole city, and the busiest section of it, so it's not surprising I couldn't find one, lol. You'd be taking your life in your own hands to get a good shot!

And what is probably our best-known landmark.

The brick you see around the statue is very similar to the brick used to pave the center of downtown.

I love the 'spooky castle pic. Adore it. It's very gothic. You could imagine Count Dracula looming round a corner. :D

:D Dracula is used to be equal with Bela Lugosi and he was a Hungarian. Also Transylvania, Dracula's home was part of the Hungarian Empire. So yes, you're absolutely right. Maybe his spirit is haunting between the walls of the castle. :D

speaking of spooky castles...this is the one I was locked in this past March. On Friday the 13th! In the basement. For 8 hours! I had to write a play. Locked in at midnight and released at 8am. I wrote my ass off. I was in the creepy basement by myself!

Wow. You guys are all from such beautiful places! I have nothing to brag about here. Except that it's home. And where my heart is. :)

London. Then NYC. Now London
So nostalgic for Budapest now! I went about 4 years ago and just fell in love with all the castles and gothic architecture - great photos.
Here are a few of mine from NYC.

Oh, here's one of a house that I pass on my commute back and forth to work daily.
newmadridsidebar.png

This house belongs to an old farming family that has been around for 100's of years. The house is currently being occupied by one member of the family and her staff. The lady that lives there is in her 80's and is still very active in the community and the family business.
As a child, that house was in walking distance from my grandparents and when I would visit them I would always walk over to the front gates and day dream about what went on in that house and how it would be to live there.
