why is everything on AW centered?

Mine isn't centered. I'm using Firefox. However, as a web designer, I can tell you what's going on. The pumpkin banner--IE is interpreting the code to center the pumpkin banner as a command to center the whole damn page. A silly CSS or HTML reading glitch in the IE browser.
