RESUME Question

Pippa

I'm working up my resume and I'm not sure what to do about my pen name. At the top, do I list my pen name, real name, or both? (My pen name is actually my maiden name, so I could list it in the middle, but I want to use it as my first name when I write)

First, what's the purpose of the resume? If it's for your primary day job, then you don't need to put it at the top at all. Just add an additional section to the bottom that says, "Other Information: I am a published author, writing as Jane Doe."

If it's a profile or query to give to a publisher or agent, then I would suggest something like this for your letterhead:

Paula Smith
w/a Jane Doe (put this in slightly smaller font.)
123 Main Street
...

"w/a" is a common term for "writing as". That should fix it.
