My google-fu is failing me here, folk.

Hubby & I play paintball, but I've never played at high altitude (in the Rocky Mountains, for example). I know that CO2 tanks are affected by high altitude, but I can't find exactly how.

So, if my guys are playing paintball in the Colorado Rockies with 20oz. aluminum CO2 cannisters, what do they need to do differently/what differences will they notice?

You need to adjust the pressure a little higher, but be careful those suckers hurt if they're over pressurized. A local shop will give you the proper pressurization. You go through the canisters a little quicker but that's about it. Just take an extra.

Surprisingly it has more to do with temperature than pressure. Up in the mountains you have less pressure which changes the difference in pressure between the tank and the outside air, but cooler temperatures can make the co2 not last as long.
