Holy crap. If there's some freaking exotic bug out there I have to catch it,don't I?

The last couple of weeks, I was down in my hometown helping out my dad and running his store while he was laid up. While I was there, the high schools in the area were starting to close due to a flu epidemic.

...

I feel like turds on toast. So much for hitting 100k this weekend. And on top of that, it is COLD here--in the forties. And now, courtesy of my MD, I am confined to my house for at least a week with "unspecified" respiratory symptoms.

I feel like Tebow without the concussion.

Maybe if I close one eye, I'll be able to type. Problem is--which eye?

*sniff*

HOLY CRAP! I'VE MET HER!!!

OH NOES NOW I'M DISEASED TOO!

You don't want this. Trust me.

Oh, sparklepeaches, who are you kidding? You hang out with aadams and her baboon army. You're probably crawling with disease.

I sorry doom bunneh. I suggest closing the eye that matches your handedness - ie: right handed, close right eye. This is based on long term scientific research that I just conducted in my cubicle. You can trust me.

:)

I would hit my head against the wall but I can't. I have to get this manuscript edited today, one-eyed or not.

Shoot me, please.

My wish is that my family would quarantine me to a wonderful hotel room for about a week and take care of the household duties themselves.

Wouldn't that be... weird?

Honey! I do hope you stop kissing teenagers at your dad's store sometime soon. What'll the neighbors think?

:evil I mean... :tongue

I do hope you get over this soon. *hug*

OH NOES NOW I'M DISEASED TOO!Ha! I just came in to commiserate and find I've been besmirched!

mscelina, I got quarantined this past March for pertussis. They kept calling to see if I was home or not.

It's weird, but it makes a good story, so now you too shall have the, 'Did I ever tell you about the time I was put under lockdown by the CDC?" story. It's great at parties.

Agreed. And I'm fairly certain Celina will too if they call her all the time.

mscelina
09-29-2009, 09:13 PM
The phone was unplugged as soon as this Klingon-sized headache began. A lot of the kids sick in Tennessee are suspected H1N1 flu victims, due to the military base and the huge transitoriness of the area population. So, as a result, now I'm a potential statistic too.

And the headache is the worst of it. Trust me.

Alternate eyes.

That's about the best suggestion I can come up with and it really sucks, doesn't it???

Ay yi yi...

mscelina
09-29-2009, 10:24 PM
I am alternating eyes. At the moment, they both hurt. Oh well. I need to get up and clean the house; my in-laws (flu-shotted already, thank the gods) are coming home from a three week vacation today.

At least after they get here I'll have a reason for the headache.

Orange Juice. Recommend lots of orange juice. Not a doctor. Just someone who always runs to OJ when colds and flu strike. OJ has amazing ability to stop runny noses (mine at least), for awhile. Of course by the time it's done one is sick of OJ and chicken noodle!

I do hope you have a steady supply of tea and honey and other such comforts, Celina... and I for one, will not shoot you. It isn't bunneh huntin' season...!

Duck season.

Fever now down to 102. Good news? I've lost eight pounds since yesterday.

Bad news? I don't care.

Aw Celina, I hope you feel better soon!

If it makes you feel any better, my friends hubby got H1N1 and he was over it in less than two weeks from when he first started feeling off-colour. They don't even bother with quarantine or Tamiflu here now.

I'm sending you healthy thoughts. :Hug2:

I have to say, when I had the flu a few years ago and nothing--nothing--helped, my sister gave me a shot of blackberry brandy. It helped a lot. She had found the bottle dust-covered in the basement.

mscelina

Thanks, Rob.

Well, no matter how you cut it, canned soups suck. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to stand up long enough to make a nice butternut squash soup or something. And yes, stormie: when I'm sick I absolutely crave salt. I don't know why that is. It's kind of bizarre actually; you'd think it would be counter-productive when you're trying to stay hydrated.

A couple of my brothers have the piggy flu right now. They're right outside Fort Campbell. The doctors were only worried about one of them, cuz he had 'lung involvement' as they called it. They're getting over it now, though. Both of them said that that tamiflu stuff is a miracle.

Hope you feel better soon. :)

Hope you feel better soon, Mscelina. I'm stuck at home with probable swine flu as well and going nuts here. No idea where I got it from but all the schools in this area of Glasgow were amongst the first to be closed down with H1N1, so I'll blame the folks round here!

Darn pigs! Why didn't they learn to leave us alone in the sixties...or at least for the couple of years during the sixties I was alive.

Day three update of the probably piggy flu: Woke up this morning at 5 with the same killer headache and 103 degree temperature. Throat feels like I've gargled glass. Total weight loss in two days: 12 pounds. Supposedly, my temperature should be ameliorating today at some point. I am not optimistic. I have self-quarantined myself in my study save for a couple of cats.

And my daughter's due date creeps closer and closer.

Jesus.

12 pounds?

Uh...do you think that would work on my arse's cellulite?

mscelina
09-30-2009, 04:48 PM
I've wanted to lose a little weight, but not this weight. Instead of H1N1, they ought to call this the "lose a dress size in one day!!!" diet and get over it.

This is absolutely debilitating. I've never felt this horrible in my life.

scarletpeaches
09-30-2009, 04:50 PM
While I sympathise with your illness, at this point I feel the need to point out my arse does not need to lose nearly a stone in weight.
