If you put your dog in a costume, he'll be much easier to find in the future.

(Seriously, I hope you find him soon)

However, your post reminded me of some article recently, that black dogs actually experience a form of prejudice due to their more "menacing" appearance to folks? I did a bit more digging and found this...

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-04-09-dogs-adoption_N.htm

Made me want to head out to a shelter (if I had room that is and if our apartment allowed dogs) and adopt one. Poor doggies.

And that's my "weird tangent barely related to another post" for the day. :)

tjwriter

It's 29. I was worried that he might be out all night.

He laid down for a few and seems to be walking funny now. He didn't have trouble getting in and out of the van, so I wonder if he's just stiff from running.

night-flyer
01-17-2011, 09:35 AM
Is he old? Maybe he has arthritis and it's flared up from being out in the cold. If he's young and healthy you might take him to the vet tomorrow if he's still walking funny. Anything could've happened to him in three hours.

He turns 10 in March. My husband felt him over last night and couldn't find anything. He was moving slow this morning when I let him out of his crate, so I felt him over and then I rubbed some of his major leg muscles and he started trotting around more like normal, so I think he just over-exercised himself during his jailbreak. I plan to keep an eye on him the next few days.

you happy about it?

SaraP
01-17-2011, 07:54 PM
We went furniture-window shopping on Saturday and in my head, I was placing the furniture on this house already. I took that as a sign that it's where I want to live. So yeah, I guess I'm happy.

This whole process is a first for me. The house we live in now, even though we bought it, we got it under a special program for young people from Lisbon City Hall, so I was kinda stuck with what I had been given. Getting to choose is a novelty for me and it's been an interesting process.

Now we need to time the deeds on both our sale and our buy so we won't be out on the street for a few weeks. :e2cry:

You know, I'd seen those red cakes on a couple of American TV shows or movies or something, and I'd wondered what they were. Then last year, for someone's birthday where I had my summer job, we put on a morning tea, and I was on cake patrol. So I found a recipe for red velvet cake with white chocolate icing. And I discovered two things. 1) My husband is willing to spend a great deal more time making icing look fancy than I am. 2) Nobody else in the building had eaten such a creation before either.

One of the local bakeries makes red velvet donut holes. NOM!

In other news, my itty bitty baby started baby cereal this morning. It's kind of bittersweet because that means he's not so itty bitty anymore.

But, he loved it and my mom said he was ticked once it was all gone. He's been staring us down while we eat for a couple of weeks now and all signs of his extrusion reflex are gone, so he's a big boy now.

Hi Milly-

Thanks for the multiple rep points! I see I have 18 points but I only see 5 comments. I'd like to properly thank people so my next newbie question is, do all your rep point comments show up in the 'latest reputation received' section or is there another spot to check out?

Thanks, bunches.

milly
01-18-2011, 07:48 PM
on your User CP page...that's where you check them and that is where they stay...you can't get rid of them either :)

and, the reason you have 18 points is that some people's reps count for more points than others...depending on various factors I suppose, not sure exactly...at first, they count for 1 point each but gradually, they become more valuable...

just wait til you get a rep from Susie...hers are GOLDEN

:)

whereas Cray's...well, I'm sure he'll pop in at some point to tell you all about his

I suppose it's good news, but it also means 45-min. commuting to get the kidlets to school will happen sooner than expected - and I am not looking forward to that (commuting will only be until the end of the school year, next year they attend school closer to the new home).

In other news, my itty bitty baby started baby cereal this morning. It's kind of bittersweet because that means he's not so itty bitty anymore.

SaraP
01-20-2011, 05:08 AM
Real estate algebra? :Wha:

Neurotic
01-20-2011, 05:14 AM
It's introduction to logic, so it's like a cross between maths and learning a language. Both of which I like. So it's not like I'm failing. Except for how I am, because not only did I have to run around making alternative arrangements for half of my life because they have the tests outside normal class time, now they've lost my test paper or something, and given me a 0 for the first test.

I know I didn't earn that 0.

night-flyer
01-20-2011, 05:14 AM
Yeah, it's a course for your Real Estate license, however you don't have to take it you have to pass four classes out of a selection they give you. I passed three courses and flunked the math. I think it's just regular algebra as used in Real Estate, but for the sake of the courses they call it Real Estate Math or algebra, can't remember. I could've just went back and took a different course and passed, but the final test is 60 percent math and I didn't think that I would pass it.

Eh, this class is pretty easy. Mostly I just follow the book, so the lesson plans consist of figuring out how many pages I need to cover each week and then leaving myself a little wiggle room.

I could probably save myself a step if I didn't insist on writing it out by hand first and then typing it into the computer....

But it's easier to work at the coffee table in the living room with a pen and legal pad.

And besides, I'm with NF: there's still something about having things "written" down that I can't get away from. My idea book is still all handwritten. Which at times has presented organizational issues, but it just seems to be how I work best.

Writing long hand kills all my creativity. But, because I'm weird that way, outlining/synopsising has to be done by hand.

When I was still out on the farm and we shared a computer, I spent about half my time writing longhand and then transferring it to Word. I thought the ex was going to have a heart attack when I got the second computer. But, really, it took too long to play catchup.

slcboston
01-24-2011, 01:43 AM
Oh, I'd never attempt to do any more than just jot down ideas in longhand. For starters, I'd lose patience with having to write it twice: once longhand, once typed. Second, and more importantly, I have such bad handwriting that I'd likely be unable to decipher everything I wrote.

:D

I'm not a football fan but I even went to a coworker's house to watch the Packers/Bears game. I felt bad for the Bears considering where I live, even though I kept asking my coworker annoying football questions every ten minutes since I'm not familiar with certain game terms.

That's STEELERS or STILLERS (depending on your accent), not "stealers". That's 'cause Pittsburgh was the steel capital of the US since the 1800's. The logo comes from the sparks steel makes when it's molten and poured.

No, I'm not in Pgh at all. :D

It was -2 when I went to work this morning at 7:30 (straight, not wind chill). Now it's about 30. We washed the car yesterday, regardless of the cold. When you can't see the blood red of the paint job for the salt, it's time to wash the car.

Ah, ok. (My bad)

I'm going to the same coworker's house for the Super Bowl. I find football relaxing to watch for some reason, along with hockey even though my back cringes when I see the guys take bad falls in football.

Baseball and basketball bores me, and soccer...well, can't decide if I dig that or not. I played one season of soccer as a kid and I was horrible. No athletic ability, whatsoever. lol. Delsym is usually found in the kids' medicine section, FWIW. Usually comes in orange flavor, which isn't as gross as many forms of grape cough syrup on the market. It's highly recommended by most doctors I've worked with and known.

Doesn't do much for me, personally, but I don't have much luck with any form of cough syrup.

I agree with DeleyanLee, honey supposedly has natural antibiotic qualities and can be soothing to the throat. When I have a bad sore throat, sometimes a milkshake feels good. The cold kind of numbs it a bit. Well, for a little while. Cough drops never seem to last long enough.
