Hey guys. :)

I thought, since I'm spreading my failure around right now, that I'd come in and tell you all that I have to drop a math course. 4 math courses was just... not working... especially since this one I'm dropping is a new course for the college and nothing was actually planned out correctly. The text was horrible...

Bah.

Anyways... 3 math courses. Gives me more time to write, at least. I will have to take 5 courses next semester to keep up though. But most of those can be easy, thankfully.

Fenika
09-28-2009, 03:01 AM
There isn't enough chocolate in the world to make me take 2 math courses a semester.

Or even one, now that I graduated from undergrad. :)

Hallo folks. Is it December yet?

Rachel
09-28-2009, 03:03 AM
December is... 2 months 4 days...
New Zealand, is it? Sounds fun!

Fenika
09-28-2009, 03:12 AM
Well, specifically Dec 15th :)

Or even the 4th when I go to Cali for a few days for a conference (subsidized too, thank god)

But yes, New Zealand. It will be a blast. And hopefully I return home with a job offer and can start planning for the move.

Rachel
09-28-2009, 03:14 AM
OMGosh, awesome!

It is pretty there, you know. I've read things about certain movies being made there and those movies have pretty scenery.

Jobs are good, too.

Fenika
09-28-2009, 03:40 AM
lol, I've been to some of those filming spots. Even went hot air ballooning and had, which was it? The Rider's of Rohan's land(?) pointed out to me.

And when I walked out of the Last Samurai I said "The setting really reminded me of New Zealand" and my friend turned to me and said "That's because it WAS filmed in NZ"
"Oh."

:D

Fenika
09-28-2009, 03:41 AM

Christmas in NZ?

Doesn't that mean no snow?

not right to have Christmas with no snow.

Hettie
09-28-2009, 06:21 AM
I am usually in Key West at Christmas... I love the no snow! Last year we did not get to go... I sent snowmen pics...my sister sent me pics of the sandman they made on the beach...she is not a nice sister!!!!

slcboston
09-28-2009, 06:32 AM
I'm sorry, I'm a purist.

By which I mean I embrace the Victorian concept of what a proper Christmas ought to be. (Which, other than consulting detectives, is about the only thing I embrace from the Victorians.) I read "A Christmas Carol", listen to carols, decorate the tree, have a candy cane, etc...

And there'd better be snow. :D

Come to think of it, I might be kind of obnoxious in my embrace of the Christmas spirit.

Hettie
09-28-2009, 06:37 AM
We do the candycanes, baking cookies, stockings, santa, rotisserie a turkey on the grill, we even get a big tree... but we are in swimming suits by noon instead of sledding!! SO much better!

slcboston
09-28-2009, 06:54 AM
I maintain the need for snow. Makes me feel cozy when we have a fire and sweaters and blankets and all. :D

Hettie
09-28-2009, 06:59 AM
I will try thinking that this year... as we are unable to go again this year... I will think happy thoughts in front of the fire... I will not be sad and longing for the sound of the ocean, or the feel of sand between my toes, or the smell of the saltwater wafting through the screened in porch... no not sad at all...

dgrintalis
09-28-2009, 07:08 AM

slcboston
09-28-2009, 07:21 AM

THAT I have no objections to. :D

In-con-CEIVABLE!

:D

I've only had one thing even resembling a white Christmas. I like summer Christmas better. Because when the family gets obnoxious (usually after they've spent too much time embracing the Christmas spirits) I can go down to the river for a swim or something. And if any of them follows me down there, I can go back to the house, and leave their fat, ham-gorged arses at the bottom of the hill.

We had some wonderful lighting across the horizon as I was driving into work (headed west) this morning. I'd almost gotten to my park & ride before the lightning stopped and the rain started.

It rained until I got to work and now it's bright and sunshiney, though a bit muggy. Forecast calls for occasional t-boomers (I love t-boomers) today and heavy rain tomorrow.

Good sleeping weather here. Too bad I can spend more time sleeping. ;)

The sun is shining, but there's supposed to thunderstorms by lunchtime and it's shopping day. NONE of the shops I'm going to, even the supermarket, have underground parking, so it's going to be a rushed morning mission so I can be home before it hits.

Morning all.

My hubby worked all yesterday, was home for two hours, worked all night, was home for an hour and is now back at work for another 9 - 10 hour day.

I expect he will be sleeping like the dead all weekend. :(

Meanwhile, I shall be learning how to finish installing my kitchen. :) It just suddenly occured to me that it's Ethan's 2nd birthday next Friday, I have a cake to bake, food to prepare and no kitchen. This will be fun.

We restored our hardwood floors in the living room a couple years ago over Thanksgiving.

You have my sympathies OT.

We've decided to update our kitchen in baby steps -- wallpaper has been removed, walls fixed and painted, crown molding installed. Next on the list is to sand the dark, dark cherry cupboards and paint them shiny white -- probably over the winter.

Flu-wise, Ms. Girl is almost completely symptom free. I'm still too congested and coughing too much to lie down, so am still sleeping in the recliner.

Hope you're feeling better soon OT and Boston!
