Hi Rachel! How you doing?

CRAZY. I'm doing crazy. But in a good way, finally.

I started querying, guys. 1 Rejection, 3 requests - 1 partial request from a query, 2 requests from my blog, first a partial, then full.

I wish I knew how much my reps give?

DeleyanLee
01-26-2010, 08:51 PM
Usually it's 1 point, unless The Powers That Be decided differently.

I've heard rumors that after a certain number (of posts? reppies? don't know), you give more. I've seen as many as 3 points from some of them (*coughSusiecough*).

But what that point is, I've not a clue.

Well my friends.. in case you was missin' me... I will not be onlines anymore during the day (except my wonderful day off in the middle of the week) becuz my work computer took a crap and my boss doesn't think I need a new one that can get online. DeleyanLee

If Wednesday = Hump Day
And Hump = Camel
Then Wednesday = Camel Day

Simple math! :D

LaurieD
01-27-2010, 06:46 PM
For Sadron

WEDNESDAY = HUMP DAY.

A CAMEL TYPICALLY HAS AT LEAST ONE HUMP.

THEREFORE

IF WEDNESDAY = HUMP DAY AND CAMELS = HUMPS THEN WEDNESDAY MUST ALSO = CAMEL DAY.

we have to go shopping for furniture we can't afford for a house we don't live in all in order to make people think it looks so good that they can't live without it.

Oh well. This may be the only way I get a new couch. Let it sit unused in an empty house for three months.

*sigh*

Good Mid-Morning :hi:

DeleyanLee
01-27-2010, 09:01 PM
Actually, I saw one of those "sell your house" shows where the majority of the furniture was made out of boxes draped with sheets or tablecloths--and the house still sold.

The dual purpose is to give buyers some perspective of what will fit in the room AND so the room doesn't echo. Echos freak out people, apparently.

When we sold our house in the crappy Detroit market several years ago, we had a battered futon (covered in a sheet) and a bookcase in the living room to hold the mini-TV and a rug. There was a table and 2 chairs in the dining alcove. There was a bed and a night stand in two of the bedrooms (no dressers) and a desk and chair in the third bedroom.

The house sold in 2 days, as is (with warranty).

Good luck!

Cella
01-27-2010, 09:03 PM
thanks, Del. We may go to one of those rent a furniture places.

LaurieD

slcboston
01-27-2010, 09:32 PM
Because the key phrase in that is *almost*.

As in they haven't yet. I've been "almost" paid for three months now.

Whereas I actually have (well, had, they've been eaten) the muffins. Ergo, muffins are of more consequence today.

Which is why I like this thread--I do better here than anywhere else on the web. :D

Hmmm. Makes me wonder what she did with all of them.

Of course, the best thing to do to a thief is sabatoge the items.

Several jobs ago, there was a coworker who had to take a particularly vile medicine, so her doctor suggested she put it in a salad dressing, which she did. She brought the bottle into work, put it in the fridge with a label on it saying "DO NOT USE".

Of course, it was almost gone by the time she got her late dinner break.

So she put up a sign that said something akin to "To everyone who used the salad dressing I warned you not to use. It contained (name of drug). Within 24-48 hours, whoever ate this will experience horrible stomach cramps, dizzy spells..." and I forget all what else, but it was NASTY.

Next day, 7 people called off with those symptoms.

No one in the department ever took what wasn't theirs for as long as I was there.

DeleyanLee
02-03-2010, 01:33 AM
What's a .... whatever that is.

Don't make me Google it. I have no idea how to make that little c thingy.

Paēski. It's Polish. It's pronounced "poon ski" (at least in Detroit)

Let me explain what the sheer decadence of a paēski is.

The night before Fat Tuesday, all the good Polish wives in the neighborhood I grew up in (all 2 of them--not my mother) would take EVERYTHING forbidden during Lent (butter, shortening, jelly, sugar--you get the idea) and bake these little cake-things. They're not donuts, they're little cake-things with jelly or custard or some other sweet gooeyness inside. The idea was to get everything naughty out of the house the day before Lent.

Now, Mom's best friend, Mrs. Zack, would make up racks and racks of these things because she did. And on the way home from school on that Tuesday, it was my task as the eldest child in the family (her rule) to pick up the tray of paēskis made for our family.

Dinner that night was always something light, like hot dogs and chips because Mom knew paēskis were coming. The entire neighborhood was filled with this aroma. We could smell it in the schools a block a way and our stomachs would growl from lunch onward. Y'know that cartoon where someone's floating along on the scent on the breeze? That was us.

They're baked sin, pure and simple. Even my sister, who could pack away an entire chocolate cake by herself, could only eat one, they were SO RICH.

Now, if you buy paēskis in the store, they're just oversized jelly/custard/fruit donuts with sugar on them. A handful, but just a pale comparison to the real thing.

And, yes, in Detroit, Paēski Day is a celebrated holiday, even outside of the Polish neighborhoods.

Ah. It's some manner of rat then.

*sends terriers*

If the groundhog gets killed by tiny, angry dogs*, then how much more winter do you have? Another six weeks, but you expect it to be an ice age so when spring comes it's a pleasant surprise?

*Doesn't have to be dogs. It can be carted off by a hungry falcon if you prefer.
