That;s what we're here for:

Shameless begging for rep points.

Speaking of, my post number is getting dangerously close to my rep number. This is wrong. My rep numbers should be much, much higher. :D

I started in the sticky at post 1.

I'm having a tough time with it, but in the forum he has another active thread that you can go into to ask questions. I like it, and I'm learning a lot.

ETA: He's very generous with his time, I appreciate it.

DeleyanLee
09-21-2009, 06:37 PM
Happy Monday!

I've got a 3 day work week this week, thanks to the G20 conference being in town on Thursday & Friday.

You may all hate me now. :D

slcboston
09-21-2009, 07:24 PM
I don't hate you.

You have a job.

Drudging, soul-stealing, life-sucking job that it is, it's still a paycheck.

:D

DeleyanLee
09-21-2009, 07:34 PM
There is that.

Though this week I've already hearing tales of G20 protesters accosting people who work down the street, of people getting ready to chain themselves in the middle of the street, so I'm not too thrilled about the job. Here I was, naively hoping that foolishness wouldn't start until closer to the end of the week.

I'm just warning my boss that if I can't get in, I'm calling off and going home. There's no way I want to deal with all of the stupidity already cropping up around here.

slcboston
09-21-2009, 07:36 PM
Tell me about it. I was actually in your town last week (no time to stop, sorry, else I'd have mentioned it sooner :) ) and was glad I got out just before the Presidential motorcade came through.

Bad enough navigating downtown with having the streets blocked off. :D

Tell me about it. I was actually in your town last week (no time to stop, sorry, else I'd have mentioned it sooner :) ) and was glad I got out just before the Presidential motorcade came through.

Bad enough navigating downtown with having the streets blocked off. :D

From what I've been hearing, they've already found big pipes with chains on them alongside some of the major roads here. Y'know, those things that protesters can drape across a road to block it and chain themselves to so it's harder to drag them off to jail? yeah, those things. *sigh*

A presidential motorcade is looking like a stroll in the park, lemme tell you.

writeronfire
09-21-2009, 09:11 PM
is there a reason why you couldn't? :D

Ummmmmmm....

No.

I just figured you guys know each other better than you know me and I didn't want to intrude.

slcboston
09-21-2009, 09:18 PM
oh. no worries about that. The roster here changes from time to time anyway, as new people come in and old people move out.

Sort of like suburban neighborhoods. :D

DeleyanLee
09-21-2009, 09:31 PM
Ummmmmmm....

Yes. It does seem simple.

slcboston
09-21-2009, 10:02 PM
Speaking for myself, we're a fairly simple bunch here.

Some of us more simple than others, I admit. :D

Hettie
09-21-2009, 10:07 PM
Actually we are all so brilliant we can only find other brilliant people to chat with on-line as there are so few of us! So, the more brilliance on here the better!!!

Sweetleaf
09-22-2009, 07:08 AM
You know I was thinking we lost Kalel when the thread changed.

And there was that scottish guy, but I think he got banninated. He didn't last long.

I have a big decision to make:
Do we sell our section, pick up the house and move it to a new one, or sell the house and buy a new one when we move?

We could possibly get a better house for the same budget, but with all the work necessary to get this one ready for sale, not to mention the nightmare stress of keeping it clean with the monkeys in tow, is it really worth it?

Did that make any sense?

Sweetleaf
09-22-2009, 07:08 AM
Oh, BTW, :hi: everyone.

Neurotic
09-22-2009, 07:14 AM
Now I'm trying to remember who the scottish guy was.

Hm. Well, how much work would it be to transport your house? Because they don't hoist their skirts and move themselves either. Although that'd be awesome to watch.

*sits and watches mind-cartoon of houses playing musical sections*

Sweetleaf
09-22-2009, 07:27 AM
Not too bad - $10 - 15k.

Thing is, where we're going, we will probably have to buy a relocatable house and move it there anyway; and when we sell, because we have a small, old house on a big, flat section in an area on the edge of another property boom (thank you new town centre and business park), chances are whoever buys it will do exactly what they did next door - ship the old house out and build two new ones.

So it's a bit like killing two birds with one stone and just marketing it to the right people.

slcboston
09-22-2009, 07:44 AM
Balloons. Lots and lots of balloons when you go to move your house.

Worked in the movies :D

slcboston
09-22-2009, 07:48 AM

It looks like the mutant spawn of a comic book dog and a cartoon sheep.

I guess that might be fitting, though. ;)

Neurotic
09-22-2009, 08:37 AM
My first thought was that it was meant to be a sheep. But it doesn't look like any sheep I'd sprinkle rosemary on.

What? It's not dirty. It's just a yummy way to roast sheep flesh.

Huh.

Sweetleaf
09-22-2009, 08:47 AM
We roasted a whole sheep on a spit for hubby's b'day this year.

I am now well sick of lamb.

But then hubby bought two lambs the other week, so when they grow up, we'll have to eat them eventually...

som1luvsmi
09-22-2009, 08:49 AM
Yeah.

Did you know you can buy a spirit still in your Sears catalogue listed as a 'water distiller'? In states where it's illegal even.

It tastes better when you know what its name was.

My mother used to make feijoa wine. That was some yummy stuff. Tasted like feijoa juice, not alcohol though. Could really mess a girl up. We weren't self-sufficient, but we grew and reared a lot of stuff. And it ruined me for stuff like stupormarket fruit and vegetables.

I can't remember where I was going with that.

No, not really. Though we shall celebrate :D

However, if you will notice, by hovering your mouse down below the "P" in posts under your av, it will say nice things about you.

I need to share this because it bugged the hell out of me.

At my family do last weekend, I ran into my cousin, who is assistant director of the screen-writers guild. I had a winge to him about how NZ publishers only want to publish books about NZ.

He informed me that the reason for this was because the publishers can get a government grant for books about nz, and thus make more money.

They don't give a rats ass about books or a good story. They just want their money.

Sorry, that really, pissed me off.

DirecTV guy puts ladder against house.
Ladder scares Bella (dog)
Bella pulls her chain out of the ground, runs for her life down the road
DirecTV guy comes in to tell me of these happenings.
I get my brother and we search for dog.
We find dog at the creek, her chain tangled around some boulders, hiding behind even more boulders, with a cut foot and no desire to leave her hiding place.
But I got her home.
I am proud.
