I don't normally stoop to begging around here... but I'm 9 reps short of a milestone in the reppies I'd actually like to hit. So... if someone or several someones could be so kind?

Well...

Was watching Harry Potter with my crew and working on a wip, but movie's over, time to prod littlelings down the hall to bed, time for me to get started with my wii workout.

Later guys...

psstt ... I've found that when being over run, it's quite often best to not be the immoveable object, but rather to immitate a prairie dog -- duck and cover dude.

Works with chaos and insane family members, guess it'd work with your antelope too...

I suppose.

Whatever "antelope" actually represent...

I've never understood the concept of making a resolution to be/do something just because it's a new year.

Seaclusion
01-02-2010, 08:56 PM
Sounds like a resolution to not make resolutions

Richard

LaurieD
01-02-2010, 09:01 PM
Not really. I make resolutions all the time -- starting today, I'm going to..... starting today I'm not going to...... I'm a continuous work in progress. :)

I guess I don't see the significance of waiting until January 1 to make changes/decide to make changes.

Seaclusion
01-02-2010, 09:03 PM
There really isn't any significance. Just a date on the calender. Like a birthday or anniversary. No real importance.

richard

LaurieD

Lidless pot as in some pots are better lidless = some people are happier single.

A greasy pot on fire simply begs for a bit of flour topped with a lid.

Otherwise, yes, Happy Lidless Pot Day to everybody single!

Hettie
01-04-2010, 12:12 PM
2 hour delay would be when the schools start two hours later Bettielee...

There is no hope for us here in my little town in Kansas though. They assume we all have SUV's and can 4 wheel drive it to school. Happy thoughts my way that the little ones make it to school while I drive my tank. Not my kids I worry about so much as the other poor people on the road that may get in my way.

LaurieD
01-04-2010, 07:05 PM
The highway was in pretty good shape actually for here. Usually, it's a nightmare when there's snow/snow packed into ice. It was getting to the highway and then getting from the main surface streets to the kids school and back that was tricky. Almost put the truck in the ditch on the hill back up to the house this morning.

Got home, started my breakfast, moved wet laundry from the washer to the dryer. Dryer won't start.

I really, really don't like Monday.

Happy Monday! (ducks for cover)

The commute in wasn't horrible, for all that we had about 2" of new snow this morning. I purposely got up a half hour early so I wouldn't have to stress over it. The bus was about 5 minutes late picking us up and only 20 minutes late dumping me off at work, so I call that a win.

If only I hadn't forgotten my lunch on the counter....

Sorry, forgot we don't all have kids.

Or went someplace as children where there was snow. :D

Which we have in more than abundance right now. School was flat-out canceled, car was nearly stuck in the driveway, and having accomplished what few tasks outdoors I had to do...

I'm not going anywhere.

Dear Faerie Godmother,

I am officially requesting your assistance regarding my relocation plans. I have no desire to spend any more time sitting in snowbanks, spinning out of control on icy roads, getting snow in my socks, or requiring the ownership of a winter coat.

Dear Madams,

We regret to inform you that The Fairy Godmother is unable to fulfill your requests at this time as she is currently vacationing in Tahiti where the weather is warmer. As you may know, fairies are very sensitive to the cold and spend the winter months in more temperate climes.

As a consolation, she requests that we send you these two packets of Nestle Hot Chocolate with Mini Marshmallows and this rubber hot water bottle to ease some of the discomfort the season is causing.

Please present your request again in the spring or summer when The Fairy Godmother will once again be back in her offices during regular business hours.

Interview went well. They're doing second interviews next week, so I'll find out by Monday if I'm in the running or not. Never can tell--but at least the weather weeded out a lot of competition. The office manager mentioned that 80% of people had cancelled, so showing up at all was a BIG plus. :D

you schoomed or was that a deliberate choice?

Cella

I was indeed schmoo'd.....

I've had worse though....much....much....worse.....

:D

slcboston
01-05-2010, 11:28 PM

Dr Suess is a good classic choice.

Waiting for a new job is rather like waiting on a submission--the best way to keep your sanity is to focus on what's going on at home now.

Not that it always works, mind you. LOL!

Hmmm. I guess I'm not noticeable enough to be schmood. How can I keep it that way?

Cella

just don't provoke the mods and you'll be A-Ok! ;)

I seem to do it with some amount of regularity.

I'm all weirded out. Tomorrow is Wednesday, usually my off day (thank you economy, we must take one day off a week) but I traded with a co-worker that needed it, so I work tomorrow and I'm off Thursday. I'm gonna be all confuzzled. It's weird enough being off in the middle of the week. I can't tell you how many times I've thought Thursday was Monday, or waking up on Sunday, not sure if it was Wednesday.

Seems to be -- though I've only been popping in and out of AW in between reports/when the docs start to mumble to themselves or to other people or stop dictating to answer their phone or just go silent altogether.

Someday... someday I'm going to be rich and moderately famous enough that I won't have to be mumbled to for a living...

Fore" is another word for "ahead" (think of a ship's fore and aft). Yelling "fore" is simply a shorter way to yell "watch out ahead" (or "watch out before"). It allows golfers to be forewarned, in other words.

AW is a trusted site.

Ergo, pics. :)

It kicks in when I visit a new site or someplace I haven't marked as trusted. Aside from cutting down on the clutter it also improves the runtime on my machine bcs I don't have to put up with all those ad-heavy, java using sites that just *crawl* to load bcs there's so much stuff on them.

Also acts as a preventative safety measure. I highly recommend them,
