I'd like my Christmas present a little early this year, if it's not too much trouble. It's a very simple thing, really.
Ready for this?
Tomorrow, I would like to get on the plane departing Yokota bound for Okinawa.
Really. That's it.
Okay, maybe there's a bit more. I'd like the plane to be functional, the weather to be clear, and safe takeoff and landing. I'd like us to actually make it to Okinawa. I can even deal with screaming kids or being crop-dusted by a flight attendant again. Or sleeping on the cold, metal floor of a cargo jet again.
I have spent a few hours McChord AFB, a few more in California, nearly 3 days in Alaska, and tomorrow will be 48 hours in Yokota.
I left Seattle on Saturday at 10 am Pacific.
It is now, as I type this, Thursday at 1 am in Seattle.
Assuming my flight is on time, and there are seats available, I will be landing in Okinawa in roughly 18 hours, which will put our total travel time at 12 hours shy of 1 week.
That's right, Santa. One. Week.
I'm grateful for free air travel, please don't get me wrong, but this is getting a little out of hand. I really, really, REALLY want to go home.
So, even though I'm sure I'm currently ranked fairly high on the Naughty List, please find it in your heart to make room for my exhausted, jet-lagged carcass on the plane that leaves here tomorrow. I'll even sell scarletpeaches' soul if that will help. Say the word and it goes on eBay.
Because I swear to you, if I have to spend one more night in a base hotel room, I will cry.
Sincerely,
Lori...Currently #47 on the Naughty List, but hopefully ranked a little higher on the Passenger List for tomorrow's flight.
