Hahaha, I was just outside on a smoke break and it was just me.

As I'm standing there, another guy walks up and looks around the corner and gives me kind of a funny look. Then he turns to me and says, "Oh, so you were just talking to yourself."

Of course, I played it off and laughed, but hell, I knew I wasn't speaking out loud, and I was thinking about something, and had no idea that my lips were moving.

Yes, I'm officially that crazy guy who smokes and talks to himself without actually talking to himself.

I do this too. Particularly when I'm trying out dialogue. The worst part is when you make yourself laugh...then people stare.

Don't worry until you start talking back to yourself, or start getting into arguments with yourself on the Internet.

I hold mock conversations with myself all the time in my car. And in those conversations, I DO talk out loud. :tongue

I convince myself that that is normal because I consciously realize that I am talking to myself and that the other half of that coversation is just me second guessing what the person will say. (yeah, I do this to "practice" what I'm going to say sometimes when I'm faced with a difficult conversation that I need to have with someone or something)

Wear an mp3 player. Then people will just think you're singing along.

I sometimes do that, with the music switched off so people don't talk to me.

As long as the conversations are interesting, nothing nutty about it. And that's my official, albeit not-quite medical opinion.

You'd be surprised.

I've always imagined that you were this grinch-like person....cold and evil at first, but then your heart grows three sizes larger and you become generous and touchy feely.

I love this... it's so great knowing I'm not the only one. I have to say, quite frankly, that I even prefer having converstions with myself than with others. Not that I'm that self-absorbed, but I always find these conversations a lot more interesting and thought provoking than real ones.

I talk to myself, argue with myself, make myself laugh, etc. I don't care if people look at me funny. Half the time, I don't even realise someone else is around. What do I care? If anything, it just dissuades them from talking to me, which is better for both of us.

This is where being a writer comes in handy. When I've been caught talking to myself I usually just tell people I was working out a plot and / or dialogue and it helps for me to repeat it back to myself. Works every time...

I've been talking to myself aloud all my life. I used to blame it on being an only child. Now I just say I'm talking to my characters. Strangers leave me alone that way. :D

I talk to myself occasionally, but it's usually just in my head. I think. ;)
