If you are able to sort your music collection by the number of times the tracks have been played, what does it give as your all-time top ten most played tunes?

How do they compare with the last ten tunes you listened to?

Post them here! If you don't have any way of doing this, give us your best guess. No cheating! Embarrassing answers encouraged! Not that any of mine are!

Here's mine:

Most played:

Shut Up and Drive - Rihanna
Whenever, Wherever - Shakira
Caledonia - Frankie Miller
Escape - Enrique Iglesias
Bailamos - Enrique Iglesias
Baila, Baila Conmigo - Missiego
Take Me Home Tonight - Eddie Money
Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
Kiss the Rain - Billie Myers
Human Touch - Bruce Springsteen

I was surprised - I had no idea I listened to Caledonia that much*, and I haven't played Shut Up and Drive in ages.

My most recently played:

I Want You Back - 'N Sync
Baila, Baila Conmigo - Missiego
In Too Deep - Belinda Carlisle
Spanish Flea - Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass
Lady (Hear Me Tonight) - Modjo
Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) - Beyonce
Just Dance - Lady GaGa
Escape - Enrique Iglesias
I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith
She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5

Let's hear yours, pop pickers!

*and I blame dpaterso for linking to it once, 'cause I'd never heard of it before that!

I tend to play by albums rather than single tracks. I'm guessing my most-played are:
  • 30STM - 30STM
  • A Beautiful Lie - 30STM
  • Dizzy Up the Girl - Goo Goo Dolls
  • Gutterflower - Goo Goo Dolls
  • Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park
  • Meteora - Linkin Park
  • Republic - New Order
My taste in music rocks. :D

I usually just get hooked on a certain song and play it over and over again.

My son's band has a new song called "Thrill of a Ride" on their site and I think it's pretty catchy.

Nowhere. Now here.
Ooh, this is fun! I just looked at my list sorted by most played the other day, and from memory:

1.) "Hero" by the Verve Pipe
2.) "Oh, Sailor" by Fiona Apple
3.) "Don't Stop" by Our Lady Peace
4.) "Jackie's Strength (Wedding Cake Meltdown Mix)" sung/written by Tori Amos, I'm ashamed to admit I don't know which artist/dj did the remix
5.) "Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls
6.) "We Are The Same" by Eric Himan

By most recently played? As of this morning, it's:

1.) "The Chemicals Between Us" by Bush
2.) "Ridiculous Thoughts" by the Cranberries
3.) "Don't Stop" by Our Lady Peace
4.) "You Can Bring Your Dog" by Tori Amos
5.) "The People That We Love" by Bush

I think this is some kind of cosmic sign that I need to cut back on the OLP. :D

Most Played... in no particular order. My playlist is doing this in a weird way.

Gimme Gimme Gimme - A Perfect Circle
Judith - A Perfect Circle
Horrible - Jack Off Jill
The Nobodies - Marilyn Manson
Someone Keeps Moving My Chair - They Might Be Giants
I Kissed a Girl - Katy Perry (Oh, dear )
Possum of the Grotto - Rasputina
Dead Girls - Voltaire
When Worlds Collide - Powerman 5000
Bring the Pain - Mindless Self Indulgence (I'm a little surprised it's the MSI cover and not the Bring the Pineapple version.)

My recent playlist is one based off my current writing project. More than half the time my playlist is just loaded up with something I can listen to to get all inspired before sitting down to write. This time it's -

Ramalama - Roisin Murphy
Please - Ludo
Paint it Black (cover) - Apocalyptica
Bloody Murderer - Cursive
Take My Hand - The Creepshow
Grave Diggers - The Creepshow

Einaudi's Giorni Dispari

I looked this up - very lovely music. Is this a playlist for a particular WIP, or do you use it for all writing?

Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun
Peter Gabriel - So
The Killers - Hot Fuss

Ecclectic and changes monthly...depending on my mood. I listened to Kodachrome 6 times last week.

No more than 3? :) Mine changes often, too. These answers are going to be snapshots of right now, but fun to look back on, I think.

- The intro song to "True Blood" by Jace Everett. It's really a very good song.

Cool tracks! And this one caught my attention when I first heard it on the True Blood trailers.

My son's band has a new song called "Thrill of a Ride" on their site and I think it's pretty catchy.

It is! The singer's voice reminds me of the vocal in Up the Junction by Squeeze. The band are very good!

At the moment I'm hooked on Turisas's Battle Metal and Cascada's Evacuate the Dancefloor, but my top 10 plays would seem to be:

Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway
DJ Sammy & Yanou - Heaven
Caledonia - Frankie Miller
Bomfunk MCs - Freestyler
Ramstein - Sonne
The Coral - Dreaming Of You
Weezer - Buddy Holly
Cascada - Every Time We Touch
Goldfrapp - Train

Who'd'a thunk?!

I Don't Feel Like Dancing was just off my top ten. Well done for admitting to I'm Too Sexy. :D I have Bumped from them. Good, chirpy stuff. :)

Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones
Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
Into My Arms - Nick Cave
Marquee Moon - Television

Very nice, Willie. :)

My all-time most-played track is "All Along the Watchtower", the Battlestar Galactica version. :)

Ooh, I didn't know that was available. I annoy hubby by playing the U2 version of that, which he thinks is bad enough. It's Hendrix or Bob or nothing, apparently. I'm going to look this up. :D

This isn't really scientific b/c I share my IPod with the husband, but here goes...
"The Wheels On The Bus" (yes srsly.)

 :)

My recent playlist is one based off my current writing project. More than half the time my playlist is just loaded up with something I can listen to to get all inspired before sitting down to write.

Oh, nice. I can't listen to music while I write, but I found it helped beforehand to listen to particular tracks when working on my last WIP, too.

At the moment I'm hooked on Turisas's Battle Metal and Cascada's Evacuate the Dancefloor, but my top 10 plays would seem to be:

Ludovico Einaudi - Le Onde

Weezer - Buddy Holly
Cascada - Every Time We Touch
Goldfrapp - Train

Le Onde is another one I got from a mention of yours. I hear it all the time on TV, now.

Who'd'a thunk?!

-Derek

Blimey, I wouldn't have! I was expecting Evacuate the Dancefloor to be on my top ten as I play it a lot, too, along with When Love Takes Over by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland. Get you with your dance tracks!

Sorry, Elara. I was using it to mean Our Lady Peace. Since they were in my recently played and most often played (the same song, even!) I was trying to make fun of myself. My humor could use some work, though...
