I searched the forums and didn't find any existing threads regarding this company.

Their website is here - http://smithdocs.net/

The reason I'm looking into them is because of an anthology they're putting together

I checked Preditors & Editors (http://invirtuo.cc/prededitors/pebb.htm) and they weren't recommended because they charge a reading fee (http://www.pw.org/content/bottom_dog_press_bird_dog_publishing), but that doesn't appear to be the case with this anthology.

Also, looking at Amazon, they have many books for sale (http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&tag=mozilla-20&index=blended&link_code=qs&field-keywords=%26%2334%3BBottom%20Dog%20Press%26%2334%3 B&sourceid=Mozilla-search)

All in all, they seem like they could be legit or not depending on how they structured the submission process.

Anyone here have any experience with this publisher? I would like to submit to this anthology, but don't want to waste my time if it's not on the up and up.

Have you read any of their books? Bought any?

They're POD, but at least for the anthology you'd get a flat $50 rather than their usual royalties on net.

I see they claim finalist for the Eric Hoffer Award. You can read about that here (http://absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48328).

I sent them an email asking a couple of basic questions last week and got a response today. Short, sweet and to the point (bullet points are mine).

The $50 payment is upon publication

Projected publication is Fall 2010

The anthology will be available on Amazon with the rest of Bottom Dog's books

There's no reading fee or submission fee, so I'm going to give this anthology a chance. Nothing to lose and the piece in question has been hard to market anyway.

If anything else pops up I'll make sure to update this post.
