I know this is a far cry for help, but does anyone know very much about the Niagara Falls, ON Canada area?

For instance, I need to find out what part of the area is known as the 'ghetto' or more dilapidated area. Stores, streets, etc... What is considered the spookier areas? I've been trying to get in touch with my cousin who went there and saw all sorts of occult shops. No matter how much I've looked, I can't find information about it.

Any information really. I've scoured the internet and have all the information I need about the tourist attractions (but that is not the focus of my story at all).

Don't know the place but if you try mls.ca you can search for real estate. Start at the low pricing end and you should find the lower end areas.

You don't have to go far from the main stream tourist areas in NF to find streets where every second house has a tattoo parlor sign in front of it. Couple of blocks in most cases!

You could try going through some of the vendors here (for the 2009 PPD event):

check out sites like Virtual Tourist or Trip Advisor here are two comments from folks through Virtual Tourist. These type of sites will have personal thoughts on neighbourhoods etc.

If you are planning a trip to Niagara Falls then you need to know about it. The canadian side is touristy while the New York side is a ghetto. Go ahead and visit us but the most dangerous street in the city is Highland ave as well as the intersection at Pierce and 18th street. But don't worry because you can get a safe hotel on Niagar Falls Boulevard between 54th and 101st. And go to the new casino on the American side called Seneca Niagara. Don't worry about your car there is 24 hour police patrol now.

Personal Safety: Don't get lost in the ghetto....stay in Canada

Less than a mile from the falls is a really bad neighborhood...really bad, make sure you know where you are going and where your hotel is. We made a wrong turn and wound up in a dangerous situation...be aware of your surroundings...find lodging on the Canadian side.

I can see Canada from my den, but I haven't been over there in a while. Between the travel restrictions and the traffic at the bridges, it's a real PITA.
I'm not familiar with the really slummy parts of the city, but Victoria Avenue, Bridge Street and the side streets off it, were known as hooker hangouts before the massage parlors opened up out on Lundy's lane.
Lundy's lane is miles (or I should say kilometers) long. Several miles out, away from the Falls and the touristy areas, there's a strip of "Gentlemen's Clubs" they are surrounded by massage parlors, which are apparently legal over there. As usual, where you see that kind of activity, you see other "Low rent" businesses.
Hope that helps.

Hey Cinnamon, here's a possible answer to your Niagara Falls question:
from Yahoo Answers

I spent a summer working in a hotel there nearly twenty years ago, and lived in a city nearby for eight years, but The Falls has changed a lot since then. The hookers used to hang out on Bridge St., but now I hear they're on Ferry. There used to be a couple of old, closed up factories on Stanley Ave (land of the cheap motels - that's where I worked), but they may have filled them in with hotels by now. I remember in particular an old Gerber baby food plant with a faded, evil-looking Gerber baby on the side. Wonder if it's still there...

Thank you, everyone for what you pulled up :thankyou:

I wish I could visit the area and ask questions, but in reality I cannot. So I research as well as I can from afar.

It helps out a TON.
