Didn't know where else to put this, but I guess it's basic for anyone who knows Latin (a language I can't get a grasp on), so... Could anyone tell me the Latin word for 'alarmists' (plural and singular) and the Latin for 'wakers' and 'waker' (as in one who awakes someone)?

My dictionary doesn't have the specific words (and it's been fifty years since I took Latin), but the root words should be:

alarm - pavor or trepidatio

wake - excito or expergiscor

Now let's see if someone comes along who can give you some real help. Puma

Expergefactor would work as "awakener".

Expergefacere means to awaken, to rouse, to excite.

The supine is expergefactum and the suffix tor or sor is added to the supine stem - in other words, it replaces um.

The suffix itself denotes an agent or doer.

praemonitor would work as one who gives advance warning or alarmer.

If by alarmist, you mean some wanker who imputes danger when there isn't any, then clamitor which basically means, shouter or bawler would work.

In medieval texts, a monk responsible for waking the other monks was called a vigilarius (pl. vigilarii). I'm not sure if there's a direct translation for alarmist. I'll have to think about that.
