Why its a good idea to have term limits:

-Once you get elected, you are pretty much bound to keep winning that seat over and over again unless you really fuck it up. Challengers can raise no where near the amount of money you do and you get to kick back and stay in congress for decades
-When you're in there you'll get nice and distant from your constituents and you won't consider them as important as the special interest groups paying for your fancy holidays and what have you.
-They have term limits for the Presidency, why not for Congress? It's meant to be the dominant branch of government after all.

Why it is not:

-They already have term limits, they're called elections. If someone does bad they don't get re-elected. If they do, then they get re-elected.

Note: I am not a US citizen. All I know of your politics is a BA in History and Politics (I did one unit on US domestic politics, mostly international stuff) and watching that righteous John Adams HBO show a while back.
