View Full Version : Dejection: $5 typo

I think snail-mail queries are now going on the list of things I hate.

I made a typo on a mailing label for a 50-page partial I was sending with a query and the package got returned to me today.

$5 postage on an unsolicited query is a pretty good waste if it's not even going to be properly rejected!

I'm so mad at myself for the error...and maybe a wee bit annoyed at USPS for not figuring out "Oh, that's down the street. The idiot sender added a number."

The envelope is battered, but the inside contents are reusable. *sigh*

Thanks for the vent.

The best was that it came back in the mail, I realized the error and resent it right away. The next day there was a listing in Publishers Lunch that the agent had left and formed their own agency. So, it was all wasted effort anyway. I bet that query letter and sample pages made their way right into the trash when they finally showed up. I didn't send anymore stuff out to that agency/agent. I mean, I believe in signs from the universe ;)
