So you now have 3,500 words?

alas no, i stopped writing but england's wickets kept falling. now im 1500-7. long gone are the heady days of my 500-1 rate. :-(

i'll try and claw it back in the morning, as will england.

poor flintoff
stupid peiterson

its starting to look like a draw, unless england can get a good number of early wickets on 3rd morning.

c'mon monty panasonic

What's wrong with our cricket?

We produce adequate batsmen but our last genuine strike bowler was Bob Willis (with an average in the low to mid 20s).

And he retired 25 years ago.

That was fantastic, a really enjoyable final couple of hours especially. I hope Monty got lots of pats on the back from his teammates. Roll on Thursday!

Was anyone watching it while listening to Test Match Special on the radio? At one point, Boycott had a bit of a dry throat problem. Aggers asked him if he was okay, and Boycott explained about how his throat got very dry sometimes since the throat cancer, and his job, involving talking a lot as it does, aggravates it. Aggers couldn't resist this prize and told him, "You could try talking less." Boycott took it in good form; I (and everyone in the studio) cracked up laughing. Love Aggers. :)

What a great last hour - unbearable tension.

So what changes would you like to see in the England side?

just two things for now.
1 better bowling
2 better batting

hohoho

steve harmison did well for eng lions. should be worthy of a place. some one needs to tell peiterson to be bold but not rash.

good to see harmy in the squad this week. worrying for flintoff tho'

if bell can get his bat going he is a must. proven at sillypoint/sillymidoff-ish and will really worry the batsman when monty panasoinc bowls, if monty plays-how can he not?

must get the first draft finished by thursday or i'm going to fall behind schedule.

this is a cut copy paste from a post as I have not yet found the way to this thread and this section of the forum.

Hi all,

I saw the pomie army at the 5th day of the first test of the ashes. for a moment I wondered was it England or India as I had never seen such a big crowd.

the match was quite a thriller.

my congrats to Pomies on saving the game.

I know the Oz will be furious just like Punter was at the press conference.

I have been a pomie supporter when it is ashes.

regards,
Ace.Inc1

I suppose I should be happy with 360-6 for a first day total but after the start England made is seems like they've fallen short.

I was very pleased at first, but it did trail off after a while. I'm annoyed with Pietersen; it almost feels like he's sabotaging things.

Considering Lords is a batting-friendly pitch, and Australia I think are stronger batters than England, I'm expecting Australia to do much better than England did. Here's hoping England build up to a good total tomorrow (and I stop being so negative!).
