Has anyone out there made a special study of the Shanghai Municipal Police in the late 1930s/early 1940s? At the moment, I'm trying to determine the minimum age someone could have become an officer of the SMP in that era but, later, I'm sure I'll have more questions that might be too obscure for the readily availible sources.
