Tis a 1965 Custom Cab Ford F250. It's been in a garage for the last 20 years and only has 100k on the clock. Best gift ever.

We were just standing out there talking and looking at the truck in the moonlight and Chris opens the side gas tank. It has three and we couldn't figure out why. Travel Tank is what it says.

It was a camper. That's why the bed is in pristine shape, the tailgate is perfect and the paint is almost perfect except where the straps from the camper rubbed it. It also explains why there's so few miles on it for how old it is.

Oh and I learned all about carburetors today and fuel lines.

You'll need to learn about points and plugs as well.

Enjoy your new toy!

Awesome! I'm already itching to poke around in that engine compartment! :D

When I was a kid, my best friend's dad had a similar pickup, only there were plywood boards up along the bed sides - it was a huge treat for us to be allowed to ride in the back of that truck. And we loved it. And no one ever fell out or got killed riding in the bed, either....

memories.... :)

My dad's face lit up when I told him we'd got it. Turns out my truck was made the month and year he got out of the Navy. I bet it was one he admired back in the day. I have to get it registered in the next few days so I can drive it over there. It's been off the books since the 80s.

I'm excited. :D And I can tow my jeep with it.... or a camper!!! :D:D:D

John Steinbeck used a very similar truck and camper when he traveled around the country and wrote Travels with Charley (Charley was his French poodle).

Weird thing is, we basically got it for free. We traded our old YJ for a motorcycle and the guy threw in the truck to get it out of his driveway. It hasn't been registered since 1983. Her name's Grace. We're also rebuilding a 1964 Ford Fairlane Wagon. Blood red interior and Wimbledon White outside. She's primer grey at the moment and not running. :D

And no, you cannot have it. :p
