for telling agents that you would like to withdraw your manuscript/proposal from consideration? I just signed with an agent and I have several novel partials and two nonfiction proposals out there. I would like withdraw on good terms. Any ideas? Any sample wording? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

A simple, business-like letter. You don't have to go into a lot of detail, just state that you've obtained representation elsewhere and thank them for their time and consideration.

End it with "I wish you luck in future endeavors"

I withdrew several submissions when I signed with my agent, and I think I just sent a short e-mail saying "Thank you for considering my work. However, I have accepted representation, and therefore am withdrawing my work from consideration." Or something like that. It probably sounded cooler.

Every single agent I e-mailed replied to tell me congratulations. I thought that was pretty awesome.

What everyone else said. Only do it quickly, happywritermom, so the agent doesn't waste time on your manuscript.

And congrats! Go you!

Thanks everyone!
I just now sent them out and I already received one congratulations. I must say that I never thought this day would come! So, to everyone out there who is still querying, keep the faith!!

Just tell them, "Go F--- yourselves!"

That should remove your ms from consideration rather quickly!

You could also send them some gay porn, with a title like, 'Important new manuscript!'.
