View Full Version : The I'm Not Writing Today Thread

Today I literally had to wrestle nine goats at work. This is not some kind of crazy zoo keeper hyperbole. I was actually chasing down and wrestling goats. I am exhausted. While I know I SHOULD get my minimum 2000 words in, I'm rather worried that it will SUCK if I do.

So today, I'm not writing. I'm going to read a nice book in bed while eating blueberry oatmeal cookies, and then I'm going to bed early. I'm going to get up early in the morning and bust out 2000 words before work, then do my usual evening two-grand.

I think goat-wrestling gives me a valid excuse.

So, why aren't you writing today?

(Warning: In order to get away with not writing today, you have to have a Really Good Excuse (TM) and you must commit to writing extra tomorrow. Those are the rules, and I make 'em because I started the thread.) :D

Can I have your job? Sounds like fun.

I'm not writing because I'm sewing. The sewing has a deadline, the writing doesn't.

I'm not writing because up until a minute ago, I was sleeping.

Is that good enough?

Because of this (http://navywifeadventures.blogspot.com/2009/06/casualty-of-merger.html).

I'm staying positive about it, being optimistic that it'll work out for the best in the future because now I have a chance to overhaul the book. There's no point in wangsting about it...but...I'm not going to lie: It didn't do great things to my writing mojo for today. Didn't even feel like going over the manuscript in question with the Red Pen of Destiny, because...I just didn't feel like it. At least I managed to send off a few queries for other projects, though.

So...I hereby pledge to get over it and write 10,000 words tomorrow.

That sucks Lori.

But I also remember this!!!!http://absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142735

Life is like my mother's nightstand: it's full of ups and downs.

Oh believe me, that's a huge part of what's kept me going today.

Like I said, I'm not completely wangsting over it, I just don't feel like writing today because of it. Tomorrow? I'm back. With a vengeance. Screw wangsting, I have a 1 million word goal to hit.

I wrote today, but i'm not writing tomorrow because...

it's the weekend! :partyguy:

I don't write on the weekends. Well, that's not always true. But i never *plan* to write on the weekends.

I will be writing nonfiction, but not fiction. This weekend I will probably do major editing and such again.

I've many projects on my plate right now. What happened to 36-hour days?

I might, and I might not. Maybe I'll just edit a bit. If I feel like it.

That does suck, Lori! But if the agent hunt goes well (as I believe it will), maybe this will turn out to be a good thing. Maybe an agent will land you an even bigger contract for PWF and you'll do a happy dance.

Ceiling Goth is really scaring me now.

I wasn't in the mood to write today, instead I watched some movies and ate some junk.

I didn't write today because I'm horrible and lazy. Yep.

Ceiling Goth looks like Exorcist 3 mashed with Silence Of The Lambs. Starring Trent Reznor.*

Anyway, mid month is always crunch time at the ol' day job. I'm stuck between about 3 different thrillers I'm writing, and the tedium of querying scripts #1-4. I need some reading time, to get the brain recharged towards thinking evil plots, double crosses, and stuff like that.
Trouble is, those line items are my day job. Evil and screwing people
:wtf:

*Between those two movies, I'll never be able to write horror. It's pretty much impossible to top that.
