For those of us too ashamed to show photographs of our working environment, how about just 'fessing up to what's lurking on your desk. Be brave, we won't judge you...to your face. :D

On my L-shaped desk I have:

MacBook
Widescreen HP monitor
Two phones: cell phone and landline
Two stacks of CDs (music, games, software)
A birthday card(from last October *gulp*)
Two watches
One pair of dangly silver earrings
One dress ring
One engagement ring in its box
Ancient love letters from the guy who gave me said engagement ring
More recent love letter from someone else
Hate mail (just kidding)
Shopping list
Two quarters
A photograph of my sister and me
3 tubes of lip gloss
A 2-inch tall glass owl from my parents.
A pen holder filled with about 20 pens. One of them works periodically;never the same pen twice. This is some universal law.
Tissues
A bottle of water
20 or so books
A bag of dog treats
Two dog toys
A dead hard drive
A USB drive
Post-Its and notecards. Lots of them.
Digital camera manual. Utterly useless when I need it.
One pair of ballet shoes in the box waiting for me to sew ribbons on.

Yes, I actually have room for a keyboard and mouse. :D

Box of frosted mini wheats (oddly the cereal with the highest iron & folic acid content)
Purple & blue pens
White binder: My really sad attempt at making a "house book" with all of our important info/addresses.
And of course the Fujitsu laptop.

I've posted a picture of my desk, but just now there is the addition of a small gin and orange juice.

Don't ask.

It's that kind of day.

But don't cry for me either. It's not that kind of gin and juice.

My desk varies from day to day.

Today's collection:

A copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales
Set of Webster's dictionary, thesaurus, grammar medical and other books
Light up Star Trek toys found in cereal boxes
An old miner's measuring scale box, missing the weights inside
Stethoscope
A metal cup, with a hole in it, and a knife inside that
A clock that I altered to run backwards
LED lights, various other parts (for building a robot and other projects)
A DVD copy of Hallmark's Alice in Wonderland, which my brother got for me
Some press passes from when I was writing for various businesses

And of course, the notebooks in which I write books and ideas, game notes, of which includes murder plots, alchemy and astrology and the connection between the symbols, the proper chemistry combination to build a rocket, the Ogham alphabet, and notes for a website I'm about to build.

And of course, various pens and books on writing. My desk is big, holds many things.

Yeah, peaches & bettie, I would have it on my desk, but somehow my mouth gets to it too fast for it to be on my desk for any length of time. :D

Laptop, dying fern, sweet potatoes, four slices of bread, rice bowl with chopsticks on top, five coasters with one cup of water. Vaseline.

...My desk might just qualify as the opening lines to an esoteric novel. Or something really smutty.
