Greetings ,
I've read that all enlistments in the USMC are eight year commitments, with the period of active enlistment followed by an inactive reverve obligation for the remaining time. My question is this: if an enlisted Marine re-ups for a second term, does the eight year commitment recycle? In other words, if you've served a four year term, and sign up for another one, are you still obligated for four years inactive reserve if you leave the Corps at the end of the second term?
The character I'm working on would have served his first term from 1987-91, second 1991-95, so if the rules have changed since then, I need the old ones.
Thanks ,
