Check out my way cool mom! She's the new Logan County Belle!

My mother was selected as the 2009-2010 Logan County Belle. Each county chooses a Belle to represent the state for a year at things like parades and festivals. This year, they chose mom!

Mom didn't go to her prom, and she and Dad had a very small wedding. So she is having such great fun with this!

She really is. She's got the whole shebang--a black battenburg lace parasol, a fan, fingerless gloves, pantaloons, a hoop for that skirt and everything.

Thanks everybody! I really am proud, although I am sure none of you noticed.

Maryn, I can agree with your statement about the scantily clad teenagers, but this is a special event. Only ladies who are over 70 years of age can be nominated. (Can you believe she is 71?!)

I wrote her bio because she was terrified of doing that. Unfortunately, the newspaper is retooling it to make it sound like an interview. Blah.

Awww, you guys are so sweet. Of course I think she is beautiful. I'll have to tell her all the nice things you all have said. It will make her day.

Mom's article was in the paper last week!! I'm kinda proud, because they used the bio I wrote for her when she was nominated instead of writing a new one. Martha, the society editor, changed it a little to make it seem as though she interviewed her, but overall she left it the way I wrote it. The downside is that she also added a few grammatical errors. She also opted to change "Mary" to "Conner", which I didn't like. It seems impersonal. I guess ya can't have everything. Haha.
