So, I'm watching RENO 911 on Comedy Central.

I rarely watch it, but when I do, I laugh my ass off.

There is something to this 'new' type of presentation of T.V.. I guess I call it a Reality Hybrid.

It is semi-scripted and presented with an amateurish cinematography that at least for me makes it feel 'real'.

So, this real feeling somehow amplifies my 'suspense of disbelief' with the net effect of making it funnier.

What do you think?
Why is it funny (or not funny) to you?
How about other types of movies like this: Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield, etc?

Do you see these types of shows as an evolution of the movie/story telling art?

As with any evolution, are some of us just 'behind the times' in appreciating this new artform.

Any predictions for the future?

Let the discussion begin. Curious to see what others thoughts are.

Actually, Reno 911! is a parody of shows such as Cops and America's Most Dangerous Chases, which are meant to be "reality"/documentary series. Cloverfield and The Blair Witch Project were done in a style mimicking cinéma vérité, which relies heavily on uninterrupted/unscripted reality; in a way Reno 911! can also be considered a parody of cinéma vérité, as well.
